Visiting Denver from the UK

Denver is known as the Mile High City as it lies a mile above sea level and is the capital of the state of Colorado. The city lies east of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and is a popular destination for ski and snowboard enthusiasts during the winter months.

Choose a Denver vacation package that fits your needs. Ski locations such as Winter Park Resort and the town of Glenwood Springs are within a couple of hours driving of the city, and are a prime location for those who want to either take to the slopes or simply relax in a winter wonderland.

Denver is a city of culture, with a wide range of museums and guided tours to let you get a taste of the rich history of the city – known as the Arts Capital of the West – and includes attractions such as the US Mint and the Colorado History Museum.

The city is home to several famous tourist attractions, including the Brown Palace Hotel – once described by Elvis Presley as ‘the best hotel in the world’ – and the estate of Molly Brown, a survivor of the sinking of the Titanic.

Denver also has an abundance of parkland that runs throughout the city and contains some of the main attractions – such as Denver Zoo and the majestic Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Bike rental is available within the city, and is one of the best methods of exploring this bustling city through it’s vast and idyllic parkland.

Direct USA Flights operate from a number of UK airports, although some flights require you to change at another US airport – such as Atlanta and Chicago - so it’s worth shopping around if you want to find the best deal to suit you. Bob Atkinson, travel expert at Travelsupermarket advises: “If you have few commitments and can go last minute, get an even cheaper package deal or flight/hotel deal by booking a few days or less in advance and reap some serious savings.”

So whether you’re looking to ski or simply relax, Denver has a vast range of museums, restaurants and shops to explore and keep you busy during your visit to the city.
